Hi Guys,
Well today I have gotten up early and have decided to continue looking into the brick wall of my great Aunt, Mary Ann Fell.  Now Mary Ann Fell was born in 1895 in a little place called Stacksteads, just out of Bacup, England.  In 1916 she married a chap called William Ashworth from Waterfoot, and in 1922 they emigrated over the pond to the good old US of A.  They lived with a friend of theirs, Alfred Greenwood in the Bronx (they were both there on the 1925 census), however by the 1930 census, Mary Ann (who was known to all the family as Mollie), was calling herself Annie Ashworth, and was still living with Alfred and his parents but was herself a Widow.
I find it very sad that at some point in their life over here they decided that America would have been a better country to live in, and then within 8 years of them being over there, he had died, and she was left a widow with no family near :-(
She did, I think, not wallow in self pity, as it would appear that she married Alfred.  He had a son (also called Alfred, and I have a wonderful picture of them out hunting.  I have found them on the 1940 census still living in the bronx (she is now back to calling herself Mary Greenwood), BUT after that there is no sign of them.  I do know she was still alive in 1973, as one of her brother's obituaries in a local newspaper over here confirmed that, but I cannot find a death for her, her first husband William Ashworth, or her second husband Alfred Greenwood.
I will continue searching, but I am not sure that I can access as many US records as I would like, with my ancestry subscription.  May have to have a look on the other subscription sites and see what I can get! If anyone out there can help me locate deaths for them, I would be most pleased.
Till Later
Vikki
